Yuri's Night

Yuri's Night is an international celebration held every April 12th to commemorate manned space flight. Yuri Gagarin was the first man in space when he flew the Vostok 1 spaceship into space on April 12, 1961.  The first launch of the space shuttle was on the same date in 1981. I spent almost 30 years working on the space shuttle program. The South Pole celebrates this "World Space Party."

    The first part of this entry made me smile and remember our Yuri celebration Pub crawl where we met at our local pub. Your fun hat is a real feat of engineering! Then I saw the soda mess and felt sorry for you all having to clean up and lose the sweet stuff. I am trying to stay away from the excess sugar drinks, but indulge when needed. You shared a dismal sight and I hope that the crew will survive. Take care and big hug! Love always, Andee
