Elephant Seals and Snow

A few pictures of elephant seals, Anvers Island.

I posted a Youtube link to videos of elephant seals on a previous post.

This is my snow shoveling station. Sometimes a few hours a day depending on snow and drift. I work at the radome (big white ball) and the Radio Frequency (RF) building next to it.

Most of this is snowdrift from the wind

The steps to RF was waist-deep here. If the snow is wet it takes a long time to dig out.

Taken from the RF entrance.

Sastrugi (windblown snow formations) on the glacier.

On the glacier for a Saturday sunset run looking at Arthur Harbor.

It was a bit cold and windy.

Kristie Cove, Anvers Island.

Pancake ice forming from grease ice.

Palmer Station on the right and Bonaparte, a popular hiking and cross country skiing area, on the left.

The March of the Penguins

I have been uploading my Palmer Station videos to YouTube. On the settings (the small gear on the bottom right side of the viewing screen on YouTube) select HD for the best quality. Click for a link.

My version of "The March of the Penguins" A collection of short gentoo penguin clips taken over two Sundays compiled to 9 minutes.
