Four Hikes

A few weeks ago I hiked Wolf's Bluff but could not find the letterbox for the hike's stamp. When my hiking partner Mark returned to the island we hiked this and he found the letterbox. The hiking book's directions were way off. The wolf's head is on the upper right.

Some say it more resembles a pig's head. I can see both.

After that, we hiked War Path Trail. What a difference from the last two "Martian" hikes.

The letterbox for War Path.

Beautiful green and ocean views.

Another hike called Nature Trail and its letterbox.

Breakneck Hike leads to Pine Valley.

Almost 200 years ago Norfolk Island Pine trees were planted for replacement masts during the sailing years.

These trees continue to thrive since they were not cut down once the steamship years began. A fine looking tree for a ship's mast. What a difficult haul to the ocean though.

The letterbox for Breakneck Valley.

An old windmill for pumping water down from Pine Valley.

The water tank below.

Bright ferns adorn the hiking path.

Four hikes and four letterbox stamps.

  1. Breakneck is an interesting name for a hike. You used to call a beach in Kauai "Breakneckies" but it had a similar name. I like the vegetation and those tall Norfolk pines. I wish we had some nice smelling trees here in Florida. Good for you to manage four hikes in one day. Take care and enjoy, andee
