Pictures and videos of a storm and giant petrels

I have been uploading my Palmer Station videos to YouTube. On the settings (the small gear on the bottom right side of the viewing screen on YouTube) select HD for the best quality.

My family in Florida would like to have this on our house at this time of year.

Sastrugi

A fine day for a hike.

Hermit Island.

A very long shadow.

A bright future.

More sastrugi. Sastrugi, or zastrugi, are sharp irregular grooves or ridges formed on a snow surface by wind erosion, saltation of snow particles, and deposition, and found in polar and open sites such as frozen lakes in cold temperate regions.

The glacier radio sled - one of my remote job sites.

Giant petrels - the largest bird in the Southern Ocean. Palmer Station on the other side of Hero Inlet.

Giant petrel tracks.

Looking up the Marr Glacier.

Palmer Station. To the left is Hero Inlet.

More sastrugi.
